Fringe Friends: Christine Green

One of the most rewarding things about the beauty industry is getting to know some amazing people. During each appointment, great stories, big ideas and big dreams for the future are shared. Special friendships are made and memories shared.  We get to enjoy a unique relationship with people from all walks of life, backgrounds, and experiences. Sometimes those relationships turn into lifelong friendships. Today we would like to tell you about one very special person that means so much to all of us at Fringe: Christine Green.

Salon owner, Angela Carlson first met Chris when she began doing her hair in the early 1990's. Angela did her hair every 6 weeks and they began to get to know each other and over time became very dear friends. Chris became like a mom to Angela. "She was always there when I needed a quick wit or good advice," says Angela.

When Angela and her business partner Donnette Begian decided to open Fringe in 1999, Chris had recently retired and was seeking part time employment. They decided that Chris would be the perfect fit for the front desk staff. They were right. Because as of now, Chris is the longest employed staff member at Fringe. Our clients love her and look forward to her big smile and personality when they walk through the salon door.

Not only is Chris likeable, she's an extremely hard worker and dedicated staff member. A Fringe employee recently said, "Chris always has the best interest of Fringe in mind. She's a selfless worker and her positive mentality sets the tone. She keeps the staff motivated and on task." She's an extremely valuable team member that we're so lucky to have.

Sometimes it seems like the worst things happen to the best people. Life is tough, but Chris is tougher. She was diagnosed with a serious heart condition that would require a valve replacement. In October 2016 she underwent surgery. Chris handled it like the rock-star she is and the surgery went well. Unfortunately she was not in the clear. 2 days later, she had blood in her brain and an emergency surgery was performed. Chris was hospitalized for months and it's been a very long difficult road to recovery. With determination and a positive attitude she has been making progress. When she was released from Intensive Care she was admitted at Meramec Bluffs to recuperate. She's been a trooper through it all and with the help of therapy and great doctors she's finally home and continuing to get better.

Through all this, Chris still manages to come see us for a manicure and blow out once a week. We all look forward to her weekly visits and cherish them. Chris shines and inspires all of us at Fringe Salon and Spa. We hope that we can be the positive influence to others that you have been to us over the years. We're all cheering for you Chris!
